Our CL site is set on a small working farm in the idilic Eden Valley, between the Lake District National Park and the Outstanding Pennines. Adults and children are all welcome. There are hard standing and grass pitches with electrical hookups and space for an awning. There is also a communal shower/toilet block.
The site is ideally situated behind a small wooded area up the farm lane, within easy reach from junction 41 of the M6. It is perfectly located for exploring the surrounding area with Lake Ullswater only 10 minutes away, Carlisle 15 minutes and Keswick and Kendal 30 minutes. Given the location it is the ideal stopover for breaking up journeys into Scotland.
There is a small shop/petrol station within walking distance. The nearest pub is under a mile away and the local town of Penrith is only 5 minutes away which has all the local amenities such as cinema, leisure centre, supermarkets, train station and an array of food establishments.

A good overnight stop.
We had one night at Woodhead Farm on our way to Scotland. Access is great from the M6, which is why we chose to stay. Obviously being that close there is motorway noise. I’m sure if the wind was in a different direction we may not have heard it so loudly, at one time I thought we had left a window open! Nice site, pitches fairly tight for our large twin axle caravan but doable, easier for us as the pitch opposite was vacant when we arrived but would have needed the motor mover otherwise. Water and electric on the pitch. There are 2 toilets, and I think there is a shower although we didn’t use either so can’t comment. Very nice owners and we would stay again but only for a short stay - or if we knew the wind direction!!!.
Excellent site
Loved this site. Stayed here for only one night but would have stayed longer if able. Lovely quiet site on a working farm just off M6. Roomy serviced pitches. They have 2 shower huts that are very clean and well fitted out. A small children's play area. Surrounded by fields with cows and sheep.( no smells) No noise from motorway. There is a very scenic 20 minute walk from the farm, through Catterlen then on to Newton Reigny ending at the Sun Inn which has a great beer garden. This is a great site and would thoroughly recommend a visit if you want peace and quiet or need a stop off travelling the M6. Just a note that as you turn right on to the farm road there is also a small site sharp right. This apparently confuses a lot of folk that this is the farm but different club ( it certainly caught us out at first) but the farm is about 200m further up on the left.
Mature Couple
Two night stay in mid-May on our way to Scotland. Best site we have ever been on for access from the motorway, but not disturbed at all by motorway noise. Pleasant views, flat pitches, water at pitch, good welcome. Good access to Keswick, Ullswater etc. Will certainly be back.
Fantastic Little Site
We used this site as a stopover from Essex on our way to and from Scotland. Very easy access from the motorway. The is a slight hum of traffic but nothing to put you off. Very well kept and spacious pitches - with water and EHU. Shower and toilet too if you needed them and these were very clean. Lovely surroundings over looking fields. We liked it so much we have booked for a week next year. Keep up the good work.
Highly Recommended
Everything about this site is straightforward and friendly. Booking was easy. Easily to access site from M6 or A66. Very clean toilet and shower facilities. Everything about the site is very organised. Friendly family feel. Lovely to watch the sheep with their lambs and working in the fields to make hay. Penrith is a bustling market town. We also walked along the river Eden and visited the magical Lacey caves. Long Meg and her daughters is also highly recommended. Beautiful part of the country.
Superb new site
Booked into this brand new CL for a couple of nights due to very handy location just off jnc. 41 of the M6 and literally only a few minutes drive into Penrith. The CL, facilities and welcome from the friendly owners meant we ended up staying a whole week and did not want to leave. Perfect touring base for northern lakes and Eden valley. Level site with all hardstanding pitches but with the ability to peg awning on the grass if you wish (as I did). The best on site CL facilities we have ever seen including hookup and water tap to all pitches, superb toilet block with two heated 'state of the art' family sized shower rooms complete with granite sinks etc. Open aspect around the CL overlooking the owners farmland along with entertaining young cows on all sides. Very handy for the M6 but do not worry about road noise as the motorway is in a deep cutting lined with trees several hundred metres away and background noise is not intrusive in a caravan. You will be glad you stayed here and with full facilities you can stay as long as you like and all for £15 per night including hookup.
I can only re-iterate everybody's comments.
If this doesn't make CL campsite of the year, then something is going wrong. On arrival a note on door said find a pitch. Very shortly afterwards Julie the site owner came over. We got pitched up and around tea time Julie popped her head around to see if things were ok. We invited her in she sat and had a chat with us for half an hour or so. Julie's husband arrived home, cut some grass and popped in to introduce himself and again he stayed and had a chat. The facilities on this CL site are outstanding, there appears to be new hantowel each time I go in. The facility's are absolutely immaculate. Nothing is too much trouble for this young couple. The pitches are of a generous size and your awning can be put on the immaculately manicured grass. This site is clearly a joint adventure and this young families work ethic is a shinning example to there 2 young children. There is a small play area in site of all pitches suitable for youngster up to about 8. I doubt very much if you will ever find a better CL site.
If only all CL's were like this.
We stayed at this new CL recently for 5 nights and can only endorse the comments in the earlier reviews. There is some noise from the motorway but this depends on wind direction and we would not consider it overly intrusive - far outweighed by the convenience and accessibility of the site. The shower/wc facilities are first class and David and Julie deserve every success with their venture - if only all CL's were like this.
First Class Site for First Time Out
We chose this CL for it's location, close to motorway, and it's previous reviews. This was our first time out and I'd already informed Julie and David that I may need some help, which they freely offered. Julie met us and gave us plenty of help and encouragement. We pitched up very easily in the spacious graveled pitches. EHU and water at each pitch. Nicely laid out. To take advantage of the views I would recommend pitching with your window facing the fields that surround the site. Great views. Photos do not do the site justice. There is one ladies and one gents toilet/shower/sink room, that would put many a hotel to shame! Very stylish and clean. David met us later after work and gave us some tips for eating out etc. Try Penrith for a visit, plenty of small shops, etc. Lovely couple and very helpful. Did I mention the great views? Don't let the proximity to the motorway put you off, the road noise is very slight My Wife's ticking alarm clock caused me more disturbance!
fantastic new site!!!!
My Wife and I stayed there for 2 nights in May. We concur fully with all the comments and observations of the previous review. There is no more we can add except for the friendliness and welcoming of the owners David and Julie. We have stayed on many CL's, this is one of the best! We shall certainly be visiting again but for a longer stay. Good luck and best wishes in this new venture! Mike and Gill.
